crazy question is sperm kept in the ball or around the balls in the scrotum (sack)?

Sperm is manufactured in the testes. The scrotum is a temperature regulator for the testes. When it's cold it contracts; when hot, it hangs loose.

Apparently, by self examination, testicles roll relatively freely in your scrotum (connected at the top by some spongy stuff that hurts like hell when you squeeze it) so you have to wonder what's all that room in the sack for and what on earth could possibly be in there with 'em?

Well, whatever it is, it isn't sperm. Those microscopic dudes are kept in a safe place in their millions so they can be readily gathered up, mixed with seminal fluid and thrust at the nearest cervix (or I suppose so they might think whereas the reality for them is often quite different). And all this happens without thinking about it.. in fact we are never thinking about that when we reach an orgasm... guaranteed.

sperm is made in the balls then stored till ejaculation in the epadimidus(a storage unit attached to the "balls")!

the scrotum is just to protect the testicles from injury (doesn't always work). testicles produce sperm and store them until needed.
