I dislike Kentucky...strongly.

Here's why: I live here, so I can offer some expertise. I just got back from Atlanta. Even there, I still found the people to be much more hospitable (and less in your business) than Kentucky. This applies to tourist- and local-oriented areas alike. In Kentucky, just say hello to somebody in Wal-Mart, in a large city or small town, and people give you strange looks (or even insults.) Women do not believe in showing any appreciation when a door is held open for them. People do not know what turn signals and yielding are on KY highways.

The winters are miserably cold and, overall, the weather is just unpredictable. The job market and quality of the educational institutions is not impressive. The highways are poorly maintained.

I can't wait to move to TEXAS (first pick), Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, or even Mississippi.

My sister lives in Germantown (outside Memphis) and she loves it. They had been living in Atlanta for almost 10 years. They didn't move until my neice and nephew were away at college. My nephew goes to Knoxville and says it's a great school and not just for parying.

I tend to like Kentucky but I'm only ever there for pleasure. It's a beautiful state to be in. My mother's side if from there and they are very nice people. I've had some fun at Lake Cumberland and Mammoth Cave and I've never noticed the people being bad drivers or rude. They do seem slightly backward sometimes, but maybe that's just me. Sounds like you just need a change, I tend to get annoyed with where I live and its some of the same problems you mentioned..maybe its us :O....

I try to make the best of where ever I live.

Don't move to Tennessee! I met more crazy people there than anywhere! Those peeps are NUTZ!

Good luck :)

Never been to Kentucky, I lived in North Carolina for 5 years and loved everything about it. However, everything you just explained about hating KY, is 100 times worse here in upstate NY. I never knew such ignorance existed until I moved here. And we had 91 inches of snow in February alone! I can't wait to leave. We can trade if you want to. There is over 50 murders every year. A lot of them are little kids. It's ridiculous. I try not to leave my house unless I have to, I'd much rather stay home and not deal with anyone.

My experience with Kentucky was 2 years ago and we were on our way to Virginia Beach when the people we were with had car trouble and had to end up renting a car and leaving their car at the gas station. The people who worked at the station were very helpful and friendly and tried to make the wait bearable for the children that were with us. They even watched the car for us until the tow truck came to get it so we could go on our way to Virginia Beach. I also have family that live in Kentucky. And may I ask what's wrong with Indiana??

I live in the most southeastern part of Kentucky...I love it. When driving everyone waves or nods. No one is a stranger. I know my neighbors well. Men open doors for ladies and women say thank you... The land is beautiful..Granted we live in a dry county and everywhere nearby is dry (alcohol free) and we have to drive an hour to get to Walmart...The land is beautiful and the people are wonderful.
