Nope- they just build fat up and sleep- they do not go into true hibernation. If you keep them in warm weather, however, they will not 'sleep the days away' at all, they will be active all winter.

No they don't but they do seem like it. They don't get out as often in the winter and have some food stored so they don't have to get out much in the winter.
