Usually the water temperature, not the detergent, is what makes clothes shrink. The hotter the water, the more likely the clothes will shrink. FYI, there are detergents specifically made for HE machines (We use Tide HE.) The final thing to keep in mind is your dryer temperature as the heat there could cause clothes to shrink.

Hi there. Cotton shrinks from heat from the water and dryer. The detergent has no effect. Wash your jeans in cold water and line dry. Even delicate drying can shrink 100%cotton. Have a nice day.

It is not the detergent that causes shrinking. It is washing at too high a temperature. Use a detergent that works in cold water and use a low heat dryer.

The detergent doesn't make things shrink. It's temperature.
Wash things in cool or cold water, and dry on a lower heat setting.

It's not the detergent that shrinks, but the temperature of the water and how hot the dryer is. Use warm or cold water and a low dryer setting.

It is not usually the detergent but wash them in cold water. My mother inlaw always turned her clothes inside out before putting them in the dryer. She stated that it kept them from fading and shrinking. She hung hers on the clothes line.

Usually shrinkage is caused by the water temp or the dryer. My suggestion is to use cold water tide.
