im a frehsman at high schhool. i am in a smart program. it is where it is smart if u are in it. It really bugs me becuae i dont want to be in it. but then agaiun its good for college. I dont want to seem like a nerd. Most people in this program are really annoying or nerdy. i mean there isnt any offense intended but those arent my kind of people. i like the friends who are loud and just talk to a variety of people. The problem is those kind of people arent located in the program. there are loads outside the program. my question is how do i approach a random person and sort of talk to him/her? i mean they arent in any of my classes and if i talk to them, they'll think im weird and that they dont even know me. how should i approch them without sounding like im sucking up??

Don't. Time to learn some social skills buddy. Not the type that just let you talk to a person, o no. The ones that let you know when it is the right time to talk to them, and the write thing to say. Frist little peice of advice is unless its just plain obvious don't say anything about being friends or hangin out. You let them do that. Start trying to develop some open-minded, smart opioins about things that people will have a hard time debating and an easy time agreeing with. It takes intiution to know exactly but trial and error are good teachers. Also don't count out the nerdy people. Make friends with all types because only boring people get bored. It isn't there fault that you can't make them fun. Also be an individual, people might see you in the "smart" program but if they see you acting a little bit more down to earth and confident about yourself socially they'll react to that. Also "Be Cool" which means stay away from conflict with your peers (don't play there games), always have a lead back attitude about life (don't ***** and whine about stuff), and don't make enemies ( you'll make some but don't make more then you have to, avoid that if you can). And you should be just fine. Besides High School is 4 years! Not the rest of your life so if you can find a nice cute, wonderful nerdy girl. Don't hate yourself for it, pretty fades and you can't change mentality.

Find some people you like'd to get to know and ask if you can sit with them at lunch.
Join a club, group, activity or sport to meet different people.
Just be yourself. Kids can be cruel, and high school can be a popularity contest, so try not to take it too personal if they're not all receptive.
