PTSD. Rape is traumatic. Soldiers cope with trauma in their own way, as do women who have been raped. Everyone copes with trauma uniquely. Some regress to an infantile blubbering state, while others repress the experience and form derivatives of the repressed.

This may sound uncaring and I don't mean it to be that way.
But with the promiscuity in our culture and emphasis on sex no matter which way we turn and the dressing of young girls where everything shows and everything goes, maybe some girls don't take getting raped as seriously as we think they do or as society says it should be, that is especially if they don't suffer physical harm, I mean like being beaten, etc.

Talking about problems is part of the healing process. Whether you have been raped or suffered the loss of a loved one, talking helps. Listening to someone talk is also part of the healing process. Hopefully you will never have a problem you feel the need to talk about and have only judgmental individuals around you. That is not being understanding or caring.

Many young girls first sex experience is rape . . .
But there is no going backwards, there is no undoing it.
They are no longer a virgin , a thief has taken it.
No police, counselor or pastor can change that . . .
So they cope the best they can , by talking about it and probably , subconsciously , trying to find something that will make life what it was before the thief struck.

Some people deal with it by talking about it. If you hold it in the only thing thats gonna happen is your gonna be depressed or worse. Its not they are not taking serious they just want people people to know their story or it is their way of coping with it.

i have never been raped, so obvoiusly i dont know what its like! but yeah, i would kinda expect that people would take it seriosly and call the police. some girls (and guys) who have been raped are scared to call the police because it may be embarassing for them, also they may be accused of making it up. i thought that most people would be slightly secretive, iv never heard of a case such as your's though....
