They want to let you know that it's something that not everyone DOES know - the question to begin with, that is. YA is about different people voicing different opinions and looking from other points of view for a moment, right?

When I say it, it's usually because it was a stupid question and I don't want to waste my breath saying the obvious answer. Or it could be that I genuinely don't know lol.

They say it because most didn't finish 3rd grade. Once it gets later than midnight in Mississippi, there'll be more 8th graders on line from Texas.

It could mean several things:
1: They are stupid
2: They are children
3: They don't care

it means that they really don't know or they are too lazy to take the time to figure something out. sometimes they do know and want to play coy so that they don't intimidate others.

"I don't Know" has many meanings...
It could mean that they don't care
It could mean that they don't have time to explain
It could mean that they do know but they don't know how to explain it
It could mean they don't want to think about it
or
It could meant that they really do not know the answer.
