-Don't swim with contacts. They could come out.
-Always take them out before you go to bed.
-When buying solution, make sure you get one that has protein buildup remover already in it.
-Carry a small bottle of solution with you in case they dry out.
-Go with soft lenses not hard.

I highly suggest if you go with contacts, get the hydra clear by acue vue. They are so comfortable. I've been wearing contacts for 20 years and they are truly the best! Even if you are told you can sleep in them, I would also suggest taking them out before you go to bed as much as possible. I had one stick to my eye and remove tissue when I took it out because I went to sleep in them. They also suggest wearing them a week, take them out clean them wear them a second week and then throwing them away. From experience, I suggest wearing them no longer than a couple days at a time before taking a break and cleaning them, and not wearing them more than a cumulative time span of two weeks before throwing them away. When in doubt ASK the optometrist!! That is what he is trained to do - answer your questions regarding the health and safety of your eyes. Good Luck!

After you wear your contacts for a while, you get fed up with them, too. Taking them off, putting them back on each and every day.. You shouldn't sleep with them because they're very very annoying when you wake up. I've forgotten once or twice, so keep them in clean solution. Buy contact eye drops. Don't get me wrong, they're great to have. You can wear sunglasses and you often forget that you have them on. Get soft lenses. When you get the exam they give you a trial pair so you can get used to them.
P.S. I swim with them, just don't open your eyes underwater, lol. Get goggles if you have to.

dont swim with them on.. i made that mistake and the contact shrunk and cut the circulation off to my pupils because of all the chlorine and the stupid nap i took right after
always try to use the same kind of solution
take them out before u sleep
if u fall asleep wit them on, always take them out and rub them with solution to refresh them
avoid using for very long periods of time as in from the moment you wake up to the moment u go to sleep
get a trial pair to see how certain brands are good for you
ALWAYS put make up afterwards

its really not that hard, you just need to put them in the contact lenses' container every night, and wear glasses when you dont need contacts, also wear ur glasses when your sick because you really dont want to touch your eyes when your sick. i think for a frist time contact lenses user, its gonna be hard putting them in ur eyes.
yeah you can swim with contacts, if you wear goggles ^_^
