Yes, but you need to convert all the bits to zero- meaning run a utility used by the Department of Defense- called a killdisk, it runs three passes over a HD and compleltely wipes all data, including any virus.
Good luck

98% of the time yes. There are times where you have them hide in the Boot sector. I use a Hard Drive Wiper That will Zero out the Drive This will Wipe the Drive to Factory Condition.

Virus is software it's not like a germ crawling around on your skin so if you elect to reformat your hard drive it will be erased along with all the other software on it.

In most cases it will work.but in some cases like boot sector virus and the viruses that affect the hard disk and cause bad sectors may not work.so it is always better to use a good anti virus for protection.

usually it does. but reformatting it once doesnt really get rid of data 100%. There are freeware softwares that are able to reformat hdd more than 64 times but dont worry, it won take long, probably the same time it would take when reformatting it normally once from windows. try that.

98% of the time yes. However there are some viruses which can reside in the flash memory found in hardware. If you have an immeadiate reinfection then this is most likely the case.

Unless the viruses are in the boot sector, then yes. If they are in the boot sector, you will have to do a zero-fill.
