I would say Rod Laver, because he was not allowed to play tournaments in his prime due to the fact he turned pro. If not for this he probably would have won 20+ major championships. In his prime he had no equal. Here we are talking abouts great players in the tennis hall of fame. Both Roger Federer and Pete Sampras have mentioned these facts. Roger can surpassed Sampras in total Championships. Laver didn't have the luxury of continuous playing.

Sampras still has the most majors so he has to be still considered having the best resume even though Federer barring injury will break it soon. Agassi is the only guy who has all four majors on different surfaces. When Laver won his Grand Slams The Australian and US open were on grass , I never saw him play so it is hard for me to really rank him as the greatest although I have talked to many older guys who claim he was. Federer's ability to make the difficult look so easy makes him my choice and I think he will win the French this year, just a gut feeling.

probably rod laver, but the game then was at a lower level to what it is now and not that many had the opportunity to play tennis so he probably didn't have difficult competition.
I think if Roger Federer keeps going at it like this he will be the best ever...

well, I have to strongly dispute what other people are saying. Laver has won 11 grandslam tournaments and Federer has won eleven.
Laver won grandslam twice, the only person, man or woman to ever do so (each one 7 years apart!), while Federer is yet to win it.
However I believe that Federer will overtake Laver's record. win grandslam twice and more grandslams.
As it stands at the moment Laver has the most impressive resume, whereas Federer still has to prove himself.

It's most definitely Roger Federer because he has an impressive game. He has hardly lost any tournaments. Only Nadal can match Federer's game on clay, but Federer has been improving on clay. So it's mostly Federer this generation.

roger federer would most likely have the most impressive tennis resume if he keeps on going the way he is now. but i think bjorn borg would have the most impressive resume if he didnt retire early and if he played more, like in australian open. winning french open and wimbledon in the same year is also very impressive. not many players have achieved this...

NO DOUBT its roger federer. He is a completely dominating player and only player that can beat him is Rafael Nadal and that is only on clay courts. Roger Federer is an amazing player and unless he has a bad game and his opponent has an great game, he should win almost all his matches. Roger Federer>all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
