Maybe all that people that cared about you are already dead.
Anyways you are talking about a hypothetical situation. I'm sure that won't happen.

Wwweeelll,
Sort of.

You may have mattered at one point, but by the time of your funeral they might have forgotten.

If you're so worried about it, try doing something to remembered. Little things done for strangers, though nice, are forgotten eventually.

So think about it. Are you doing kind things just for the sake of being remembered as that super-nice-helpful person. Or because you REALLY want to help.

Self esteem comes from within. Learn to matter to yourself.
Sometimes people do good things to be loved, acknowledged and admired for their goodness rather than goodness for its own sake.

your so called 'kindness' had been misplaced, & you're doing it for the wrong reason, that you wanted recognision, & gratitude from those you've bestowed kindness, this kind of selfish act cannot last, it'll run out of steam very quickly, it has to comes from the heart, day in day out without a word of thanks form anyone, sometimes you get snide & hurtful remarks from the very person you've just help, ther's a chinese saying "you leave your name when you dies"
