Ignoring suffering is not moral. The thing is the Concept of Morality that makes us human.A lot of animals will "feel" bad and even try to "help" others because they sense the other animal is suffering, we Humans on the other hand have created a set of values, rules and norms but most of the time they only serve as guidelines and many of us choose not to follow them. The difference is we have a choice and animals do not.

Somebody told you wrong - What is moral and what is not moral comes from you environment. And I was thought that ignoring the suffering of others is wrong so I would say yes but that is only my perception. I sure some would say no.

Our awareness of morality is one of the things that make us different than animals.
How we choose to heed that awareness is one of the things that make us either better or worse.
And of course, no, it is not moral to ignore the suffering of others. But you knew that.

The reason we humans are different than animals is that when God created animals He said it was good. But when He created humans He made them in His image. Being in God's image means we have the ability to reason and a will to use as we see fit. He also gave us the desire to create just like He has. The animals are good creatures but their ability to reason is far less than ours. Their wills are rudimentary and they have no desire to create only to procreate. Our morality is also an innate gift from God to humans in that we want to do good for others, but because of sin, the will was distorted and we would rather please ourselves. Selfishness or a desire to please one's self over anyone else comes from sin.

Not true. Animals do assist each other. But humans do differ from other species of animals in having reasoning power -- which is sometimes used.

Whether a person behaves morally or not, we [humans] have the CONCEPT of morality - that is the point.
