Well skinny to me is based on people's preference. Skinny and bony to me are two different things, while to some people their one and the same. Skinny is when your waist is small, yet you can have curves, not voluptuos ones like (Scarlet Johanson) but more like Jessica Alba.

Bony is what Nicole Richie used to be, or even The Olsen Twin, WHEN YOU SEE BONES

Slim is when you are skinny but a bit toned, which is basically what trim means aswell

Someone whose really trimmed is Jessica Beal..infact maybe shes a bit cut LOL

If you can see each lumbar of their spine, that's considered "skinny/bony". It's unhealthy, but it seems to be a popular state. If you are considered "slim/slender", you are likely an active person, many people in this state like to exercise or play sports.

I would say slim/slendor/thin is a polite way to say skinny or bony. I used to get ofended when someone called me bony!

I'd say that if you can readily see a persons bones through their skin- they're dangerously thin & need to see a physician. A slender (or natually thin) person who's heathy but otherwise lacking in curves- is probably just genetically predisposed to be that way.

Skinny is maybe a little too thin but not too bad
Bony is ugly and maybe not eating enough
slim/slender/trim is in good shape, good health and looks good
