I am mixed (black and white) but most of the kids I skate with are black. I mean our white friends even call us white so we ditch talk to some black friends and they say the same, we ask why and they say "because blacks don't do that" or "that stuff is gay ***** get a life".

ALSO . If we as black men and women can not except others of our own race how will we ever be accepted? Isn't that what Martin and Malcolm fought for!!! How can we as black people overcome racism if we cannot accept our own race just because they skate, or are smart, play hockey, lacrosse, or do other things, or anything else. Thats like saying whites can't be rappers, blacks aren't good leaders, and asians aren't athletic. These are racist, stereotypical, and angering. Some of these stereo types do have a little statistical basis but it's still racist.
Does anyone know any books on this subject

I agree with you. The most successful black people I have met are immigrants from other parts of the world, and are free from this sort of oppression.

I just wish black people in this country would free themselves from their own stereotypes. I wish they could feel good about being individuals who can listen to their own style of music wear their own style of clothing, and be successful in school without feeling like they abandoned their culture.

Ditto! You spoke a mouthful. The same mouthful most intelligent blacks have been saying for years. - including Martin and Malcolm.

The books will say the same thing you just brought out. A "written" demostration of intelligence.

All I can say, since it has been said for years is to do like I did: Stop sticking with the ignorant and be among the intelligent blacks with intelligent responses that even come out of the mouth of their children. You will never be able to change our race until they are ready to change, and who has time for that? When ignorance comes out of their mouths, ignore it and understand that they are limited and it come from their parents.

Some of us have already.

Don't worry about what they feel about what blacks and whites do. Do what you love and they will either do two things. Join you, or limit themselve to what they believe.

Meanwhile you will be enriched and having the time of your life!

personally, I believe that racism is present whenever and wherever angered and jealous people are.
I would recommend, just try to ignore it. dont give up on your interests and dont show your weakness. Remember to be proud of WHO YOU ARE and dont care for those who dont want to accept you for who you are.
