after my 5th day of... not going... I'm starting to think that maybe I should just stop eating. All that food building up inside cannot be good for me (even though I have 4 fiber supplements a day, excersize regularly, and drink plenty of eater). Would it hurt me to skip eating for a day?

try canned pumpkin- honest.. and maybe a strong coffee- lol- good luck and bombs away

Sorry, but there are a lot of stupid answers here. First, coffee is acidic and dehydrates you. Do not treat yourself with coffee. Next, in general, fruits, dairy products, and white bread will also plug you up. Drink a lot of water and get a good laxative like MiraLax which is one of the most widely recommended over-the-counter laxatives, known to work. Then, eat SMALL meals. You don't want to add a lot more traffic to the traffic jam.
Fiber is great for avoiding constipation but once you have the problem, work on softening your stool. Drink at least 1 1/2 quarts of water per day too. A great, easy fiber you can take everyday is Metamucil. It's orange flavored powder sold over the counter and recommended by doctors for years. Mix it with water and drink.

I would personally have water and prune juice all day, buy a suppository for constipation from chemist, dont eat any more like you said, get a magazine and just sit there for as long as it takes, try putting your feet up on a small stool in the bathroom, squueze then relax, may sound strange but lift one leg up and place your foot where your bum cheek was so you'll be leaning to one side a bit see if you feel any movements then swap sides, relax the whole time and cocentrate on the magazine article, once you get the hardened stools out you'll find the rest of it should be soft enough to come out a bit easier. Relax and read 2 magazines if ya have to. If symptoms dont clear you'll have to see your dr

Don't stop eating - change what you are eating... I suffered from serious constipation while on chemotherapy drugs and the most effective thing I found was linseed seeds. You sprinkle a teaspoon on your cereal. Also, increase fruit intake - which has side effect of loosening bowel movements. Grapes are good - but there is only so many of them you can eat ha ha. I tried a laxative first, but found it painful - possibly I took too much - but the linseed proved very effective just by taking one spoonful a day and being patient...stop taking it once things loosen up sufficiently. You can get it in any health food store. : )

My wife had the same problem, when she ate too much fiber. I bought her some snack size boxes of raisins for her to eat to try and get it to work loose naturally. The alternative is to take a laxative. If you are having bad pain, then you should consider talking to a medical professional. You may want to ask the pharmacists about the laxative, since it's been so long.

it's not a good solution for constipated,or else it will give you another cause of problem like head aches or it will make you weak,gas pain etc.,fiber supplements is not enough to make you regularly (unload),you also need to eat vegies that is high in fiber,sometimes avoid some fruits that can give you also constipation like apples or grapes.it has enzymes that can cause hardening of your poo.try soft diet instead of skiping meal

It wont hurt to skip eating for one day, but try to limit your food to only fiber-filled food. Don't go for more than two days without eating anything.

Take 3 heaping teaspoons of Epsom Salts with warm water. Yes, it tastes horrible but baby, you WILL go! Make sure you keep drinking liquids afterwards.

constipation is not about eating a lot or whatever, it's from something that you ate that made your stomache feel bad... but it's good too coz you're gonna be losing weight after eating a lot!!!!

Go buy a big bag of plums. That will help with your constipation. If it doesn't work, then take laxitives.
