Most sewing machines will do the job.

You need to set the machine properly, and to use the proper needle. Consult with the experts at the fabric store, and they will help you.

For example, stretchy fabrics often need nylon thread and a small zigzag stitch so the seam doesn't pop open.

Most any good quality sewing machine will sew any of these fabrics. Don't get a cheapo model though. I'd opt for a Singer - they've been around forever. I'm using the one my mother bought when I was 15 - it's over 25 years old now. I've sewn all those materials on it.

You do need to use the right kind of needle for your fabric. That will make a big difference. Round-pointed needles are good for woven fabrics, and sharp needles are good for other kinds. Be sure to read on the needle packages - and the instructions that come with your sewing machine will help too, because you will need to have your thread tension adjusted for the type of material as well. Always practice with a scrap of material before you sew.

Tip for faux fur, if that's what you mean. I made a cat costume for my daughter for halloween a few years ago. I found that when I cut and trimmed the fur it went everywhere. I found it very helpful to use the upholstery attachment on the vacuum to vacuum the edge after cutting to keep the fur contained (mostly).

Have fun!

Try getting Sew Ease for the machine. You put a small drop where the thread goes through the machine and at the top of the needle. I have sewn confetti dot fabric this way-plus a sharp strong needle.

as for fabrics it really doesnt have much to do with the machine as it does the different size needle to use

it's not so much about the machine as the sewing foot you use and the type of thread you use. there are elastic threads that work well for that.

Any good machine should work, it's more about the settings and learning how to use your machine effectively.
