The best thing to do is to go out and hit with them and make sure they have fun. Don't get to technical with them as far as over instructing on their stroke technique. Be sensitive to how long they want to play. If you make it a chore or try to force them work on shots when they just want to have fun or just go home you will probably turn them off to tennis pretty quickly. You will find out soon enough how serious they want to be as far as improving and competing. In the mean time it is best to just relax, expose them to the game in a fun casual way and enjoy the time you have with them.

Do you want them to enjoy it or make a career out of it or both?

If its solely for career..follow the Richard Williams plan. Isolate them into a world of little other than family and tennis.
