Get siblings, they know each other and have already established their places in the pecking order from growing up together. There won't be any serious scuffles over dominance. Plus they'll be closer matched in appearance and personality. The only con is that you can't breed them, but hopefully you weren't going to do that anyway!

As an avid lover of dogs I don't think you should get two puppies at all. It is a bad idea to get two puppies in the first place. The reasons being are: 1.) It's hard enough to raise one puppy and give iot the attention and socialization that it needs, much less two. They only end up getting 1/2 the amount of time to be properly socialized.
2.) Dogs that are raised together don't develop the kind of human bond they would have if they were raised in a one dog family. The puppies are harder to train, and they don't have as strong of a desire to please. It is a fact that they actually become stubborn.
3.) Dogs are "pack" animals by instinct. This means that there has to be an "Alpha" or dominant dog of the two. This increases the dangers of children and owners being harmed which could be fatal. A lady is serving a 12 year prison term for her 11 year old child being killed by her 3 Rotts. ( it isn't just because of the type of breed that caused them to do this) So this means there are dominance problems among other dogs family members and guests. It results in dogs becoming more territorial and aggressive.
I'd start out with one puppy unless you are an avid dog breeder and are knowledgeable in raising multiple dogs together. 2 or more means multiple. Good Luck finding your new addition to the family! Puppies are a blessing!:) I urge you to read the article from where I checked my knowledge from. if you want 2 dogs then i would suggest siblings. but it depends on how much room you have, money for vet, enough food, attention, etc... if you want a big dog you might want 1 big dog and 1 small. if not you also have to think if one dog has a decease it is very possible that the other dog will get it because they where in the same house and have the same genes. you might also look at adopting 2. even if they aren't the dog you might of been looking for just think that you will be saving 2 lives.

It depends.
You need to observe their play. Some siblings do not get a long at all. If you see a puppy being picked on (or vice versa) don't get that pair.
With puppies from diffrent litters, you are looking at the same thing. you should have them come and play together and see if they get along

Well, you can train him not to tear things up, and to chew only his own "property," but you can't stop his being the alpha. That's a natural ranking that goes on in dogs and other pack animals: including humans!

If you want 2 dogs it is better to get one puppy and one older dog that has been trained... the pup will watch and learn from the older one... with 2 puppies, things can get really chaotic and it is hard to get their attention to train them... all they want to do is play
