I've heard mixed reviews, some people seem to find it very stupid and other people seem to like it. Is it worth the $100+ it would cost to go see it?

My wife and I saw it about two years ago. It was worth the price. I don't know what it costs now, but when we saw it, it was part of a package we got through our travel agency, and, as I recall, that particular piece of the trip cost us only US$50. The price at the door was a lot higher than we paid at that time. I must add, we spent a whole lot more on a boatride out to the reef, and it was not nearly as educational or pleasurable. We spent a lot in the tourist shops in Cairnes, too, but the dreamtime experience was the best... Would love to have a chance to see it again!

in case you havent been to Cairns for ten years, the tremendous information is the Lagoon on the Esplanade, there under no circumstances replaced right into a coastline to swim in Cairns, a minimum of in the Lagoon you may have a very good cooling dip in the course of the nice and cozy circumstances in November. except that, i'd visit the evening Markets, and theres also a sparkling Tropical Zoo in North Cairns. outdoors the city, i'd take a outing to Kuranda, and in case you've were given time, power as a lot as Port Douglas and Daintree Rainforests, it really is a really goodpersistent and the Daintree rainforests are mind-blowing, i loved the crocodile jumping excursion on Daintree River. and clearly, a visit to the great Barrier Reef, it really is the great fee in Cairns and Port Douglas because the reef is so close to to the mainland there.

I lived in Cairns for 20 years (I moved in December of 2006 to the US)...and I can honestly tell you that Tjapukai is a HUGE waste of money!!!

I went once, and only cause it didnt cost me a thing (I have a friend who works there and he insisted that I check it out before I left)...and I was so glad that it didnt cost me anything as I would have demanded my money back...

Dont waste your money on seeing this, its just not worth it. There are soooo many more things that you would enjoy more in Cairns....

Be sure that you check out Hartley's Creek Crocodile Farm, The Rainforest Habitat in Port Douglas and then keep heading north to Cooktown, the World Heritage Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation...

Other things that to do are a trip to Fitzroy Island and if you do want to go to the reef, be sure to take Quicksilver. Make sure that while you are in the area go to the Atherton Tablelands, Lake Tinaroo, Milla Milla Falls and the lava tubes at Chillagoe...

Cairns such a beautiful place that I know you will love it...also to to Ellis Beach on the way to Hartley's Creek, I hope that you are there on a nice, fine day...

I almost forgot...make sure that you go to Crystal Cascades out at Redlynch and dont take the main path...there is a dirt track to the left in the carpark that will take you to a place know as Fairy Land (most people dont know about it)...its a beautiful waterfall....its maybe a 15 minute walk along a dirt track and be sure that you watch for the stinging trees and wait-a-whiles...also, the odd python, but nothing too serious...

email me (skattered007@hotmail.com) if you would like some more information on Cairns...I lived there for my entire life (ages 5 to 26)...Im extremely home sick and would love to tell you more...

Dont listen to skattered brain above. She sounds a bit racist quite frankly.
Its worth every cent or dollar. Go see it - its interesting, educational, entertaining.
Its about the Traditional Owners of the area and the dreamtime story and dance.
Plus you get to enjoy a great dinner.
People who say its stupid, are probably racist.
There is plenty of racism here in Australia.
Dont always believe what you hear, go see it for yourself and make up your own mind.
Oh and dont believe what else that woman said above, Cairns is very violent at present, always in the news.
Watch yourselves if you decide to go in the area.
enjoy the Tjapukai tour!

I live here, been to Tjapukai twice during the day, good if you want to experience the 'aboriginal way'. I have seen a bit on TV about the night show and it looks good!
Price is $87.00 for an adult which includes Buffet Dinner.
They've recently won alot of regional tourism awards so it can't be too bad!
