Itachi had to kill his best friend to obtain it. Did Kakashi kill his best friend? I dont think so since Guy sensei is still alive and kicking. So how did he get it?

Itachi isn't the only one with the Mangekyou Sharingan anymore! I don't know when, but during the manga, Kakashi developes a technique that allows him to use the Mangekyou Sharingan. No, he doesn't kill his best friend. He developes a special kind of seal that temporarily gives him the Mangekyou Sharingan. It looks different from Itachi's (the lines outside of the spiral connect making a pretty cool shape), and it also has a different set of techniques. The only technique Kakashi can use at his current level is to be able to transport objects to a different dimension. He can only use it twice in one day. After two uses, Kakashi usually passes out or needs to rest. There is also something that tells you how he got the sharingan

This is the real story behind Kakashi Hatake's Mangekyō Sharingan.
His Mangekyō Sharingan awakened after the trauma of killing Rin Nohara with his own hands. He started using it in Naruto Shippuden series and therefore whether he possessed it earlier is unknown. With this Mangekyō Sharingan, Kakashi uses a space-time ninjutsu, called Kamui to teleport anything to another dimension and have it back at some other place. But unfortunately he can use it only two times at max in a day. However by the start of the Fourth Great Ninja War, he was able to use it several times and was even able to use it on himself.

As has been said, he recieved it in a transplant from a former dying team member (Obito) who was a member of the Uchiha clan. However, Kakashi developed the sharingan's power on his own; Obito only had one spiral when it was transplanted. And there are specific qualifications one has to meet to gain the Mangenkyou, which Kakashi believed he had obtained, so he can use it.

it cant have been obito, the sharingan kakashi got was at level 1. this is because obito just obtained the sharingan before dying (well not literally before!) and it got planted into kakashi's eye whilst in lvl 1. Obito died before kakashi even opened his eye and started to fight those ninjas (awesome!!)

Short answer.
Kill best friend is not the only way obtain Mengekyou sharingan.
Kakashi already have that since he young when his comrade get kill one after another,
First Minato[His teacher] died
second obito
and then rin .
why obito is still here?
obito not died, remember his body got crash but Madara give him new body and he need to train to get better at it.

We really don't know how he managed to get the Mangekyou Sharingan.
Some say that's because he feels responsible for the death of Obito.
Others say that there are differents forms of the Mangekyou Sharingan and so differents methods to get it.
