Why do some people say they hate people who try to do something that makes them feel good?

If spongebob is a sponge, and he's under water, wouldn't he be fat, because he would absorb so much water?

If someone is smoking, and you talk to them about it, and they ask if you would rather them Drink, what would you say?

I just put this on here because a friend had posted these questions on his bulletin on Myspace. i thought i would see what other people thought. And no i am not a *****!

1- People want to have a choice.If they choose to feel bad there is no point at someone triyng to make them feel better so they get hated for that.
2 - SpongeBob is kind of fat...Have you ever seen him out of the water?I personnaly i think he would look thinner...
3-Yes i would rather u drink cause i wouldn´t have smoke in my face and u would probably think im prettier than i actually am with a few drinks on you.

I get the impression that you are trying to get someone to NOT smoke, possibly. If so, I am thinking that if they are going to quit smoking, it will be when they are ready to do so, and not until then. It is a lot more difficult to quit than many non-smokers realize. (I am a non-smoker, but I am speaking from experience of someone who knows many smokers but few quitters.) I would think their reaction to you would simply be that they feel pressure that isn't going to do any good and they simply want you to not feel the need to express your interest in getting them to quit when they are not ready. They probably get that a lot and they probably get pretty tired of it. I understand how you feel if you feel that you think it would be better for them to quit because of how much better they would feel, blah blah blah. I know that, they know that, you know that. Again, it will happen when and only when they are good and ready for it. So, if you want my advice, and even if you don't, here it is: maybe focus on just being a good example with your actions and not your words. That may be a lot more peruasive than you realize!

I say I would rather answer questions that make sense, but if I can't do that, I answer questions that not many other people have attempted, whether they make sense or not.
