Petsmart should let people start working at 16 I believe. The starting wage is probably between 6.25 and 7.00 an hour.
Petco on the other hand only hires employees if they are 18 or older because of the contact with the animals.
In that sense, Petsmart is a little bit more lax on age restriction.

I started work at PJs Pet Centres which is a big chain in Ontario, Canada in 1981 when I was 14. I got minimum wage ($3.85 at that time!) Wonderful Job - learned a lot about retail and about animals too. Great way to start earning some extra money. Good luck!
