Well it is possible that there is a deep bruise which isn't very visible and causes you pain but sometimes a direct impact to the knee will cause the inside part of your Quad to weaken and it doesn't properly hold the kneecap in place. As a result of this any further impact could be pushing the back of the kneecap against bone causing pain and inflammation of the area. The problem should go away after a few weeks of rest or it may even go away with the same level of activity. If the injury becomes more substantial or fails to go away after a prolonged period go see your PCP, they may refer you to a Physical Therapist or an Orthopaedist depending on what you descirbe to them, they may also X-ray or MRI your leg.

Good luck with that knee (Knee injuries suck)

You can't get an x-ray without seeing a doctor first and getting an order from him/her. An x-ray is like a prescription; you can't just walk in and ask for it without an order from a doctor.

See your doctor.
This is what mine said:

Ice for the first 48-72 hours

Then heat.

Dr will probably have you take ibuprofen every 8 hours around the clock for the inflammation. That was quite a while back.

Yes, I'd see a doctor and ask for an X-ray.

go to your primary care physician.. he will probably get an x-ray and maybe send you to an orthopedic... which is what i recommend. I would just go see the orthopedic and you will probably feel better faster. that is what my brother recommends also.. he is a family doctor so.. figure out where an orthopedic is by you and go see him.
good luck!!
