Be the peace that you want to see in the world. Hold it in your spirit/heart, watch it grow and see how it effects your experiences. Create it.

It starts with the individual. "On the day we can fully trust each other, there will be peace on Earth" (written by L. Ron Hubbard) If you can make the individuals of Earth sane and trustworthy, especially those in leadership positions, even leaders of groups as small as 10 or 20, you will have peace. That's why I'm a Scientologist. You might want to check into this. Read the book "Scientology:A New Slant on Life" by Hubbard or the common sense moral code he wrote, called "The Way to Happiness" (available from that foundation or e-mail me & I'll send you a copy) and make up your own mind.

Peace marches are ok for show but in fact they achieve very little in the West.
Remember the massive protest marches against the war with Iraq?
If you have time and money, a better idea is to lobby your parliamentary representatives if not we can all contribute to world peace by uttering no insults towards anyone, by being tolerant of those who do not profess our own values, by not taking offence or condemn the ignorance of others...

Start by being happy with yourself. When you are truly happy with yourself, a lot of your interactions with others -- whether they're your friends or a stranger at the store -- will be positive and it'll just keep going. When you are truly happy with yourself you can be generous to others without needing anything in return.
I've never been to or seen any protest march that was "peaceful". Not trying to be mean, it's just my observation.

As long as we live on earth there will be conflicts both large and small.
This is human nature.
Think about yourself. Even you who are a lover of peace....even you have conflicts within yourself. Even you have had conflicts with your neighbor.
True and lasting peace will only come when Christ returns. But until that time you can help foster peace by loving your neighbor and doing good to those that hate you.

Constructively work for a very specific goal you have in mind. Rather than the enormous and unapproachable(even by governments and institutions, let alone individuals) goal of "world peace." Do community service or write to a congressman or something like that.

When I was 20 I took the 4 vows of the bodhisattva:
Sentient beings are numberless; I take a vow to save them all.
The deluding passions are numberless; I take a vow to overcome them all.
The gates of dharma are numberless; I take a vow to enter them all.
The Buddha way is supreme; I take a vow to complete it.
At age 55 or so, I saw through the arrogant delusion that I could save anyone other than myself, and settled down to just doing that.
It will be enough to make there be peace in your own life, peace so deep that it blesses everyone your life touches.

I am sorry to break this down for you, but there's nothing you can do. Being in a beauty pageant won't help, either. There will always be people who want more than they have and will start a war.
There is a way, though: try to never start a war. This way, we;ll have one less war.

This may sound dumb, but, there is this group that goes around hugging everyone. They hold up a sign that says free hugs, and people come up to them & hug them. Its a start. Everyone feels better with human contact. It puts a smile on your face.
Like I said it's small, but, everything makes a difference!

i just don't know, i think about that a lot how can you make a difference if your always being told you can't speak. Seek out the truth, speak the truth, be open minded, fight for your rights, have people around you who support you in being yourself and support others in them being themselves. other then that i know nothing about the mechanics of protesting, i hope i helped anyways.
