Sum up the forces.

Since we're accelerating in the x-direction (and not in the y), we only need to look at those forces.

mg sin(30) = m*a

g sin(30) = a

9.8 * 1/2 = a

4.9 m/s/s = a

The acceleration is 4.9 m/s/s down the incline.

force down plane = mgsintheta = ma

so a = gsintheta down the plane = g/2
