several years ago a good friend got it in her third trimester. It took her a year after delivery to look normal most of the time but you can still see her face sag if you are really looking.

A woman in my lamaze class got Bells Palsy a few weeks before giving birth. Here's what I know...it did not harm the baby and she fully recovered a couple of weeks after giving birth. We delivered the same day, at the same hospital, so I saw her the day after delivery and I could tell something was off and she was slurring her words a bit. By our one month reunion, however, you couldn't tell that anything had been wrong. I didn't know her well enough to find out if they gave her medications etc., so I hope someone else can help you out with that part. Good luck!
Edited to add: She did tell me that her doctor said that, while pregnancy doesn't cause Bells, the stresses of pregnancy can make you more susceptible to it.

I've had BP three times, but I have no kids. The pregnancy has nothing to do with you getting it. No medication is needed, but recovery is often 3 months or even slightly more. Full recovery (for me thus far). Delivery won't have anything to do with the recovery because the pregnancy has nothing to do with the disease anyway. You can take anti virals but they don't really help much. If it is affecting your eye make sure you keep it moist.
True enough that stress can cause it so if you're stressed about the pregnancy then that may be your cause.

As far as I know, Bell's Palsy is not directly related to pregnancy, but I do know that stress can cause the seventh cranial nerve (facial nerve) to flare up, thus causing the "paralysis "of the face. However, there is hope. One of the most important things you can do is massage your face as often as possible, and work on activating the "paralyzed" muscles. You don't want to keep those muscles dormant. . .this could lead to atrophy and may impede a full recovery. Practice frowning, wrinkling your forhead and nose, drawing your eyebrows together, closing your eyes tightly, making kissing/whistling motions with your lips, grinning, blowing air, pouting and smiling. Full recovery may take a couple of months, but don't get discouraged. . it is possible.
Hope this helps :)

I've not had it myself but knew someone that did while she was pregnant. Everything returned back to normal shortly after delivery. Keep your chin up and consult with your doctor for more concerns. Cheer up and look forward to the new little life that will be bringing so much more joy!

I don't know anybody who got it during pregnancy, but I do know somebody who had it...It took him months before his face was totally back to normal...Being that your pregnant, yeah, It probably will take longer... But in time, you will be ok again...I don't think there is any medication for that...just time...

why dont you ask your doctor all these questions? also i had bells palsy a couple of years ago...wasnt pregnant though....but it did not take me "months" to get over it like the others on here said....i went to the dr. and she gave me a steriod pack (prednasone) and i was fine in a couple of weeks. i know u cant take those meds being preg so thats why u should ask ur doctor, a professsional, all these questions instead of people on here.....
