i found a bird by a bridge while i was walking home. it was laying on the ground. i was wondering what happend 2 it so i came close and say blood near and and saw he was trying to fly but couldnt, it couldnt even walk, i think it tore its leg or somthing. it look like a weird kind of exotic bird, i think some 1 owned it because it had some ribbon tied around its neck. so i decided 2 take it home, i know i shouldv taken it to a vet place or somthing but it was late at night and the vetnerian place was closed. so i put in a cage (a really big one) with bird food and water. It was just standing by the side. What should i do now??????? (i know, take it 2 the vets place but the vets place isnt gonna be open for a while......(i know i shouldnt have piked up the bird but i just couldnt let it die on the cold hard ground....) help plz

You did the right thing helping this bird. Until you can get it to the vet keep it warm and quiet, and away from any other pets that you might have. When the vet opens, explain to them how you came to have the bird, and usually they will help you out. It might be that the bird needs to be put down. But, if that's the case, you have still done the right thing, because euthanasia by a vet is far less painful that dying in the cold or becoming a snack for a cat.

If you think it may be an exotic bird with a ribbon around it's neck,it most likely belongs to someone.
I would post an ad around,lost bird found and say in there that you are taking it to a wildlife conservation place. That bird needs more help than you could give it, if it's leg is indeed broken.

alot of vets have emergency numbers. Call a vet! I picked up a raccoon that was hit by a car. I brought it home put it in a box cleaned up the blood off of it and put water and an egg still in the shell in with it. The next day I called Raccoon Rescue and they were coming to get it the next day. That night the raccoon was all of the sudden better and went crazy running around the walls in my son's room running up across his back. My husband finally caught it and put it out but I do not regret picking it up off the road where it surely would have died.

well actually you cant take it to a "vet place" clinics dont want wild birds in there for fear of disease that can be picked up by pets. also they cant do much for a wild animal other than euthanize it. what you need to do is call a wildlife conservation place and find out what to do. most cities have a place that you can take wild animals. unfortunately there is not always alot we can do for wild animals--thats life sometimes.
