For a firefighter in a city whats the chances of death? Anyone know facts and figures?

There really aren't any precise figures as to the chances of death during duty, but here are a couple of numbers.

Approximately 100 LODD occur each year this includes on scene, at the station, during training, while responding and returning from calls. 24% of deaths are while responding/ returning from calls. For every 1,000 responses there is 1 vehicle collision involving an emergency vehicle. 12% of deaths during training excercise. 38% of deaths occur at the fire ground. 23% of deaths occur while performing other duties. 2% of deaths occur during non-fire emergencies.
