The family was in a jeep and was swallowed into the earth and thrown back in time. They were always trying to escape the dinosaurs and monsters called Sleestacks. They had a monkey-like friend. It seems like the word 'Lost' was in the title.

I have to admit, those Sleestack's were pretty frightening to a little kid..something about those fly-eyes and that horrid hissing sound >_

Land of the lost. First aired back in '74 I think. There was also a short lived attempt to redo the show back in the late 80's or early 90's. It onley lasted a couple of episodes.
