I think that it is good that you all trying to help her. I new a person that went through the same thing and I had to decide what to do. I tried talking to her and making her see that she is not alone and sometimes she got it but somedays it only got worse. The teachers caught on to her behavior and they intefered. I think that if it gets too bad you will have to get her some help and that is because you care for her and you want to see her happy and not dead. I have to tell you that there is not much you can do but continue to stand by her side and letting her know that she is not alone because she has in her head that life is not worth living and that no one can help her and until she comes to the realization that there is a reason to live, she will be this way. It is nothing personal to you if she doesn't respond to the words that you give and the care that you show because you have to understand that all of this stuff has happened and right now it seems that nothing can save her. Continue to encourage her and if things don't get better something has to be done before you loose a friend. You don't want that on your conscience and that would hurt a whole lot so you might have to try to talk her into getting some help or finding a way to help her to try and save her. Good Luck!

I have experienced a person I love dearly who was suicidal. First I listened to everything they felt and had to say. I gave my advise but more imporantly I helped them seek the professional help which was needed. We can give our opinions until we are blue in the face but if it is someone you truely care about, you will look into other avenues because sometimes, no matter what you say, it may not be enough. It may take an outsider who can look at their situation to determine what is the best course of action to take to help their specific situation. The most important thing is to always make the time to be there for them.

Alot of the answer to your question depends on your circle of trust. My son was also talking of suicide and he came to me to talk about it. I knew he trusted his school councelor and that was a decent place to go. I also took him into see a private councelor. If her parents are not that involved and are part of the problem, then you may need to see a teen help line or try your local social services. You can look up hotlines on the internet I am sure also. You are a good friend

Tell her that she shouldn't commit suicide life is worth living and just because she been through alot doen't mean she has to give up. If she has a belief in God then this should help.

Perhaps you and her can go to your pastor or contact a church in your area and make an appointment go together. I am very proud of you for being there for her. Your in my prayers and I will leave you with this.
The prayer of St. Francis says it best............
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Talk to a trusted teacher and tell him/her exactly what has transpired so far. They may have a lot more ideas/resources for your friend....

Talk to her family, they need to know. Don't keep this to yourself. If she's serious, then she needs professional help.
