It's all about the money.

You got me, man. No AA thing I've ever been associated with, other than a Round-Up, cost anything. It must be a fine of some sort. None of the 12-stepper affiliates charge anything. Believe me. Double check on that one.

I notice there are a quite a few comments judging you on your DUI. I think you're already aware it wasn't too cool to be under the influence while you were driving. Some people have to learn the hard way. You just wanted to know what the money was for, right? Let's leave it at that.

That part of the punishment imposed by the court. You don't pay you go to jail. This is what you get for driving drunk, you pay the price for stupidity. I got one and it not worth it, so next time call a cab. That what I do. Better safe than be sorry. Don't tell me you were not "drunk". The $567 goes to funding the AA for the next stupid drunk driver.

You must be confused. The $567 is probably the fine you have been assessed for breaking the law, or for a drug/alcohol assessment, which is separate from AA.

Per the AA website:

Alcoholics Anonymous is a voluntary, worldwide fellowship of men and women from all walks of life who meet together to attain and maintain sobriety. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership.

If you wanted to go to AA on your own, you could, for free.

They must have expenses to cover like paying employees and renting the facilities , insurance ,utilities ,maintenance etc.
The $567 could be part of a fine as well for your DUI charge.
Don`t drink and drive then you don`t get killed , kill others or get penalized!

I thought AA was free. Who said you had to pay $567? That doesn't sound right.

I am an AA member, sober for 8 1/2 years. AA is free. We do suggest contributions to defray expenses, but they are never required.

I cannot tell you what your $567 is for, but it isn't for AA.

By the way, if you want to get sober, AA works. If you don't want to get sober, it doesn't.

Oh please, you know everything is about money these days! You were naughty and broke the law now you have to pay. AA is just collecting a piece of that pie you know the big $$$$ pie that you served up to everyone by driving drunk. Stop whining and pay up and don't ever go there again. Good luck with things.

The $567 is probably the cost of your fine. If you are wise, it won't happen again. It could have been a lot worse. Think about it.

you were driving drunk and all you got ws a $567 fine and having to go to AA. Too bad you weren't thrown in jail for a year or so. It might make you think twice about drinking and driving. Where is your brain? You could have killed someone's child!

I don't think the $567 you mentioned is going to AA. Maybe the money is going to your Rehab?...AA wouldn't be charging you anything. It has to be something else.
