Tell them you've thrown away every one you've gotten and your still alive and doing great...Superstitions about bad luck are just ways of making an excuse or putting the blame somewhere when bad things happen. If it helps rip one up in front of them and tell them they need to start your funeral arrangements and see how silly they feel.

when you recieve it throw it out in front of them, you prove it by nothing bad happening to you. I think chain mail is so rediculous, not only the ones that say you'll die if you don't send this to so and so many people, but also the ones that say if you don't send this one you don't love God or trust in Jesus. Like my faith is going to be based upon whether or not I forward on a chain mail. Or that if I pass something on my "secret love" will find me or kiss me or some other bs. My husband and I found each other just fine even though I have thrown out every chain mail I have ever gotten. We have also ended up just as happy without sending anything on and havn't had a any abnormal bit of bad luck. Just the typical bad things. Tell your freinds that if they really believe something bad will happen then it will, becuz they will view every tiny obstacle as a result of not sending the message on. The odds are you won't be able to convince them at all, most people who really believe in those letters don't stop. Plus do they really believe in it or do they just send it on out of boredom? Anyways, good luck convincing them!

Honestly, I don't even bother reading those anymore. I haven't for the last 10 years or so. It gets on my damned nerves. If you delete it instead of sending it on, it stops perpetuating the silly idea that something will happen to those who do not. Less people who forward those things mean less people that receive it mean that there's even less people to continue sending it along.
It's really just something that somebody made up in their spare time with nothing else to do and sent it to all their friends to see who will follow suit. Kind of like that ... "if your friends jumped off of a bridge, would you?" course not...
Just don't even bother. They get the hint.
Of course there are those stubborn folk who will ASK you to your face if you GOT it and if you SENT it, and that's when I really let them have it. As nicely as possible of course. :)
Good luck to you,
miR :)

Just delete it.
I tried to tell a good friend to stop sending them to me. He just keeps doing it.
My husband emailed back the friend who sent him a chain email AND the woman who first sent it out, telling them that he didn't appreciate getting stupid chain mail. And guess what? The woman -- a stranger to him -- who first sent it out got all mad at him and said she didn't like getting emails from strangers! What an idiot.
The lesson I learned: Just delete it and move on.

There is no such thing as oogity-boogity. Bar none! I have thrown away countless chain letters without any repercussions what-so-ever. People believe all kinds of junk, just look around. It doesn't matter what you run up a flag pole, someone WILL salute it. Burn the letter. Tell your friends you just out-grew them.

They're not scary, they're just stupid. I have someone that always sends me them. I keep telling her that they're annoying and just superstitious chain letters, but they just keep coming. The people won't listen, just delete them.

Try telling them to go to www.snopes.com this website is basicaly s website that tells you if an email that you get or story that you hear is true or not. It is very useful. Try directing them towards that. Good luck!
