my best friend of ten years now has changed for the worst, he is selfish, self centered, cocky, and an overall dick to me, he contributes nothing to the friendship and believes that he is always right, we have alot of history together, and since were both going off to college soon, i feel like i should maintain the friendship, but its very hard when your best friend treats you like garbage, after all friendship is a giv-and-take right? well he only takes and gives very little back, now he is very manipulative and will turn people against me, what should i do im extremely lost help me

Yea let him go. Alot of history doesn't mean much if it isn't good history. You might want to take sometime out to find out if it was your big heart or your lack of self-esteem that got you into this situation in the first place. Could be nice combination of both thou, but its important to understand why.
