I am 40 wks today and I have been loosing the mucus plug for over two weeks now and been getting cramps in the lower back, contractions which aren't very regular but getting stronger and pain across the front of my tum, i had an internal yesterday only to be told i'm only 1cm dilated which is nothing major and I have been booked in for induction on Tuesday. So I wouldn't assume this is labour, its more likely to be pre-labour preparation pains like me!

When I was in labour with my daughter, it started with the bad back aching. You could be getting some back labour, which usually means the baby's head is pressing against your spine. It may be too early to tell, but if those tummy pains keep coming, you could be in labour. If this is your first baby, don't fret over little aches and pains..........you will KNOW when labour has started. Most doctor's/hospitals don't recommend going to the hospital until your water has broke, or until contractions are about 3-5 mins apart and you are uncomfortable. Hope this helps!

Sounds like it to me....back pain and cramping sounds like the beinging of you being on the way of becoming a new mommy. Very soon! It may feel mild at first...but you'll know it when it starts!

Yes, you could be. Or it could be false labor. The mucus plug can regenerate. But it's best to call your Dr and give them your symptoms. They will tell you to either stay home or pack your bag and get to the hospital. Good luck!!!
