octane number the fuels ability to resist detenation
you use 87 regular unless your motor has a 12:1 compression ratio or higher
dont worry if your car isent highly modified

87 is the octane level of the fuel. unless your vehicle SPECIFICALLY states use premium only (do to high compression ratios) then you should always use 87 octane. The sensors and the ecm in the vehicle will compensate automatically for the octane level that you put in the vehicle to give you the best performance possible. Spending more money for premium ie 92 octane is just a waste of an extra 20 to 30 cents a gallon in a vehicle made after about 1990

it is typically the percentage of octane versus heptane and other additives in a fuel.
It also describes the resistance to autoignition of the fuel without necessarily meaning that you are getting 87% octane....but the fuel will chemically behave like 87% Octane fuel.
89 and 92 are the same as above....
Octane requirements are established by the engine's compression ratio.

Yep for 92 you must be 92 or older.... this is made from moonshine....shhhh!!!! Dont tell anyone..... 87 is half water and 89 is diesel.... and gas mixed.... you can use the 89 stuff..... You can fill your gas tank with water then dump 12 alkaseltzer tablets in the tank and it will turn to gasoline.... old trick....

It's the octane rating of the fuel. I know it's not the price! I don't know what you drive, but just go with the 87 rating. If you get a noise that we call "pinging" when you start to accelerate then you may want to move up to the next highest rating.

well the numbers represent fuel octanes which technically mean the quality of fuel. The best of course is 93 octane for an unleaded fuel vehicle. In older vehicles use higher octanes for increased performance. I you want to go cheap though, you can buy a bottle of octane booster at the gas station.

87 is the octane rating of the gas....the higher the number the better performance you will get out of your car but also comes at a higher price

it means if you were born before 1987 use 87,if born in1988,1989 use 89.......92 can only be used if you are over 92 years old,so dont get caught using it......very good question

the higher the octane (number) the less amount of detonation there is which means the fuel burns better then fuel with a lower octane rating. (A lot of detonation can put a whole in a piston)

its the amount of octane that kind of gas has in it,and so on,the higher the number the more octane it has,and the more it cost also, some cars require more octane than others to run good, but that's what it means, good luck i hope this helps.
