Probably not. For any knowledgeable, rational, reasoning, honest, and half-brave individual it should be rather apparent that the chances that a god exists are rather slim. Sure, there is a possibility, but such a minimal one that it may not even be worth consideration. As far as belief goes, we simply do not have any appropriate reason to believe in any god, let alone a specific god. There just is no evidence. No, it appears men simply believe what they want to believe, and often want to believe merely to feel comfortable. But, that is simply wishful thinking. In reality, it just doesn't seem plausible. So, no, in all likelihood, there is not, nor ever was, any god or gods. Our life is our own, and ours alone.

God springs forth from the primitive limbic system of your brain, the last remnants of your reptillion past. The area where our raw emotions reside, including the irrational belief systems.

The 'religious' experience is triggered by deep depression, starvation, near death, or other highly charged situations. The 'born-again' christian phenomena has a scientific basis....yes, your limbic system. Why has man evolved this mechanism you might ask? Simple...it was a survival mechanism of our cave man ancestors to cope with a hostile and unknown universe.

The cerebral cortex is a more recent development. Here is where our rational and logical thought processes take place. It is here that the atheists have found their basis in reality.

In reality, there is no sentient, omnipresent, omnipotent supernatural being or force....therefore all the inequities and misery of the world will always persist, no matter how hard some try to get that limbic brain of ours to work...sorry

Spinoza would say the definite article "a" does not belong in front of the word "God." In Hebrew the word "Yahweh" is a tenseless form of the verb "to be." You might translate it as "being." If by "God" you mean supreme being, infinite being, then just look around you. Do you see the universe being? Are you being? Maybe you prefer "happening." It's all happening, even your little part of it. Do you still have questions? Or are you still hung up on the Sunday comic version of God?

Yes there is. Now if you'd ask me to prove it I cannot because the existence of God cannot be proven philosophically. It is a matter of faith and some of us have it and some don't. The important thing is that the Universe works whether you believe in God or no.
I reckon that's a miracle in itself.

Its my belief that "god" is the essences of all that is. Everything including you and I. We are all unique expressions of whatever this "god" stuff is. There is the I that is never destroyed, matter cannot be destroyed. It just changes into something else. We are stardust. All that is in them is in us. No separation. Conscious creative energy we are. That's what I think. I think God is something we all share, it just is what is.

Yes! I simply have come to the conclusion that the construction of earth, the universe, and surrounding galaxies is just too perfect to be a coincidence. It takes more faith to believe we are all here by chance and are meaningless, than to know we were placed here by an intelligent higher power.

Yes, but His existence doesn't depend on what people are answering here!
