Ok, If you are in need of gil...
In game there are multiple ways of obtaining decent gil...
-Do quests! There are tons of repeatable quests that require little time to obtain gil...
-Farm! Farm for the mobs that drop items people craft with..
(e.g. Crawlers drop silk thread...)
-Fish! It takes time to fish..but leveling your fishing skill will only benefit yourself in the long run...
(e.g. Moat carps sell decently to the players trying to obtain the Lu Shang's Rod)
-Craft! Crafting is something that you can profit from if you farm for the items needed for a specific synth. Choose a craft you want to master, in time you will rake in gil like there is no end.

Sell crystals in the FF Auction House, do quests and missions. Sell unneeded items earned from those quests/missions. Craft items. Mine for treasure. Same way all HONEST players go about it.
