Try going to the dollar store and getting some cheap plastic or metal bowls...various sizes, salad serving bowls, mixing bowls, etc. And then play with them to see what looks best as a UFO. You might put the rims together in a sort of sphere and the larger part would be the hull and the top part would be the bridge...you might put a platter inbetween both to look a little like Saturn. You might stack them backwards so the bigger rests on the smaller and have a weird shaped ship. Then glue it all together, decorate it to look spacy.
For an alien, you could start with an action figure or a barbie type doll, (these can be so cheap, again, at the dollar store, not a name brand item) or a weird looking stuffed animal, and put antenna on them, reassemble the body parts, paint or dye it strange colors, or with glow in the dark paint, glue an extra eye in the forehead, etc. Whatever your daughter thinks an alien should look like.
If you happen on an actual alien toy, I would not buy it. I would make your daughter do some of the work to make it look right.
I don't know if your alien and your ship are supposed to be in scale with each other, as the alien could drive the ship...if so, you have that to consider, pick your items accordingly. It would also be a harder project, you would probably have to cut doors or windows in the ship so the alien can fit inside. This would be a grownup task, and even the parent should be careful not to cut yourself. Wear gloves...and choose plastic for the parts that need cutting, unless you have a welder in the family.
