Valhalla, Hall of the Slain, in Norse mythology is the hall presided over by Odin. This vast hall has five hundred and forty doors. The rafters are spears, the hall is roofed with shields and breast-plates litter the benches. A wolf guards the western door and an eagle hovers over it. It is here that the Valkyries, Odin's messengers and spirits of war, bring half of the heroes that died on the battle fields (the rest go to Freya's hall Folkvang). These heroes, the Einherjar, are prepared in Valhalla for the oncoming battle of Ragnarok. When the battle commences, eight hundred warriors will march shoulder to shoulder out of each door.

Valhalla is a place described in Norse mythology. Part of Asgard, the home of the Aesir (the Gods of the Norseman) Valhalla is the place where the souls of brave warriors who fell in battle are brought by the Valkyries (warrior-maidens who served Odin, chief of the Norse gods. Their name translates to Choosers of the Slain). Once the warriors souls are brought to Valhalla, they again possess bodies and indulge in the activities that comprise the Norse ideal of a paradise.

They feast upon the flesh of a boar who always rises to be hunted, killed and roasted again. No matter how many partake of its flesh the meat never runs out. Then the Einjhar (as the slain warriors are collectively known) battle each other for the joy of the conflict. Giving and receiving endless wounds, at the end of the day all are healed and the combatants are again the best of friends. The feasting and drinking begins again.

The purpose of all this is to gather hosts of brave and loyal warriors to fight on the side of the Gods when Ragnarok (the end of the world, when the Fenris Wolf is freed to rage upon the gods who imprisoned him, the Frost Giants sail to the shore of the plain of Vidgar in a great ship made of the clippings of the finger and toenails of evil men, and the fiery host of Surt descend upon them from the fiery realm of Muspelheim)

You have a warped view of the real life. What you are living now is just pre-life. There will be no harp playing in heaven and I don't believe we will have wings or sit on clouds either. (I think you watch to much TV) There will be no, as you say, wenching in hell. No sex in the afterlife since there will be no male and female. Sorry (I was bummed about that too.) Hell will be hot and alone and horribly painful. Heaven will be complete contentment and bliss with eternal wonderment and endless enjoyment while praising the God who made us and came to earth to save us from ourselves. I'm sure heaven will be so much more than we can even imagine in the limited form in which we now live. I can't wait to get there and experience it myself.

"the hall of Odin into which the souls of heroes slain in battle and others who have died bravely are received."

Basically, it's a Heaven for heros.
