Look at the pages before the story starts. Behind the title page is all the information on the book's publishing. You will be able to get the author's age and if he is dead or alive, and you can write the publisher to forward a letter on to him. I have often written the publisher and have had wonderful letters back from the authors.

I dont know, i'm not even sure if he's still alive, I used to read his books in the 90's.....................
