End-on-end (also end-and-end or end-to-end) refers to the actual weave of the fabric used to make the shirt. It is a closely woven fabric with alternating fine colored yarn and a white yarn creating a mini checkered effect with a smooth texture.

It is a type of weave.

It is generally white thread alternating with a colored thread. Obviously from a distance it looks solid colored (e.g. red thread aand white thread would read as pink) but up close it has a textured effect.
