Ohio State actually has a great history program - they do not have a teacher education program for undergraduates, but you have to have a Masters Degree to teach in Ohio now anyway, and a BA in history from OSU should get you into their MEd program or those at Capitol, Otterbein, etc. in Columbus. The great thing about history at OSU is that because of the size of the program you will have the opportunity to take classes on a wide variety of subjects from people with amazing research and travel backgrounds. American history is particularly strong, but it's tough to go wrong with any concentration at OSU! You can read more about the programs offered at history.osu.edu - good luck!

I feel like College Football programs have their up and downs. Programs will be dynasty for decades and then lose their competitive edge in later years. Look at Notre Dame and Nebraska, they both were great, and now not so much. It's not about the history, but the futre. I believe there are several college football programs on the rise. Top of it's class: USC, UF, Oklahoma and a possible Ohio St and UT. On the rise: Virginia Tech, Texas Tech, and UNC. Possible conference on the rise is the ACC. SEC is definitely the most dominate.

The best college in Ohio to become a teacher is Ashland University. They have students from almost all 50 states and many foreign countries that come for their program. I'm not positive on how the particular history program for teaching is, but for overall teaching, it's Ashland.
