for english class we're supposed to create a basilica using anything we want, and it has to be pretty large, but i have no idea what to do, or how to create it, any ideas? thanks =)

Wow, huge undertaking...

One suggestion would be to construct it from pieces of Foam Core - it's lightweight, you can cut it easily with a carton (Xacto) knife, glue it with carpenter's glue, and paint it if you want. You should be able to buy a sheet at an office supply store, or even some inexpensive off-cut bits from a framer.

Papier mache would be another method, but it's harder to get good detail with that. Maybe modelling clay (plasticene) on top of papier mache would do the trick.
