open iTunes manually...calling the Apple store would be a good thing to do as well. They are always kind and friendly and willing to help.

Hey. Connect your ipod and since the pop up doesnt come up open itunes.
Your ipod should come up. In your library have all the items that you want to be transfered to your library checked. On the right of every sone there is a box that can either be checked or unchecked. check the ones you want in your ipod. Once thats done click sync and the rest is history.

dont know if this will help but if your battery is dead it needs to have about 1/4 of a charge to snyc with i tunes. keep it plugged in for a couple of minutes and let it charge and see what happens.
