I am trying to wire an exhaust fan in a bathroom and have it wired to the light switch. I have hooked the black wires to black and white to white and groung to ground. When the current is turned on, and the switch is in the off position the fan runs and when the switch is on the light comes on and the fan goes off. How can I wire this fan when I turn on the light switch the lights and fan comes on and when I turn the switch off the light and fan goes off. Any help is appreciated Thanks

if its a single pole switch i am assuming ,wire the white wire coming directly from the fan to the white wire in the housing for the switch only. the black wire also coming from the fan wire that or i mean tap into that wire on the bottom of the switch or the top, depending on wich lead is not hot when switch is in the off position wire that back wire to the lead that is not hot that would be the wire for the light as well.

Put each black wire on your switch terminals. Wire nut the two white wires together. (The power is interupted through the switch for on and off.) If your switch is at the end of the run it may need to be wired different. If so Goggle "switch loop". That should help-

often times an exhaust fan is hooked right into a similar circuit because the vanity lighting fixtures, no longer a lot as a device to get rid of odors and moisture, yet to make noise so as that any "different" noise created in the rest room is roofed up or muffled with assistance from the sound of the exhaust fan operating.
