Neither wrong nor selfish..why keep in touch with someone who is going to have a negative impact on your life.

I cut my sister out. Completely. I even met with a lawyer to make sure that my will was as tight as it could be, that in the event of my death, she could not contest the will.

That was in 2003. Guess what? I just talked to her on the phone the other day. I talk to her every week or so. This just happened in the past six months.

I was not wrong, nor was I selfish. I did what was right for me and my family. You have to think about what is best for every one, but mostly yourself.

I have no plans to change the will though. I don't believe she has completely changed.

Not wrong or selfish, but maybe not realistic. There will be family gatherings to contend with. Really, though, if you feel the need to detach, then detach you must. If the siblings have a powerful negative effect, then you have to do what you have to do (but try to not make it worse than it is). Think carefully how you will fully or partially detach.

No, it isn't wrong. I have the same problem with my own sister and I've cut her out of my life as much as possible, though I am civil to her when we have to be around each other.

"You can pick your friends, but you can't pick your family". You don't have to be overly friendly with negative siblings, but you do have to make an effort to agree to disagree.
