That happened to me before.
I had my period for 40 days. Then I was free for a month. Then I had it for another 40 days. Then I was free for 3 weeks. Then I had it for another 40 days. It drove me crazy. I was around 12-13.
I realized (as I grew) that it wasn't my period but something else. I never figured out what the other thing was.
But after the 3rd time; I went in for yearly blood tests; and it showed I had an anemia level of 3.5 (very very bad; doctor was suprised that I was able to stand/sit/walk normally)
I was sent to an endocrinologist and he gave me 700 mgs of Ferros Sulfate (Iron) a day for 2 weeks. And then he lowered it to 350 mgs a day for 6 months and I was fine again..
I still got the 40 days thing. I didn't tell my doctor about it. But it went away by the time I was 14? or 13? not too sure.
Take her to a doctor because she might have a broken vein in her vaginal area; internally. She'll be fine if she gets to the doctors before she loses all her blood.

Sounds like a medical problem that should be checked by a gynecologist. Depending on her age, it could be the start of menopause. Early symptoms could begin at age 35. There could also be a rupture somewhere in the reproductive cycle such as the uterus or ovaries. It could also be endometriosis, where the lining of the uterus begins to grow and attach to the outside of the uterus or other nearby organs. Perhaps it's a fibroid tumor (usually benign). Feminine bleeding can simply be caused by too many things to speculate on this site. Have your friend get checked by a reputable doctor specializing in woman's issues. Good luck.

I think it means go to the doctor. Holy cow, how can a person function with that going on for over a month! Plus i don't trust anything that bleeds for over a month and doesn't die.

It means she is probably anemic at this point from all the blood loss. She needs to go to the doctor and be prepared to describe the blood loss as old or fresh.

Other possible choices are side effects of hormonotherapy or fibroma of uterus. Must be checked by gynecologist .Very easy, just an exam would do. Don't wait before she gets too anemic.

She really needs to see a doctor, my cousin just experienced a similar situation and they said her blood count was way to low and that there was a good chance she could have died if she waited any longer. they had to do blood transfusion.

She's pregnant?? Definately see a doctor then immediately.
If she's not, she should see one anyway to get her hormone levels check. Things like PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) can cause things like that.
