I have following words hanging in my room in my house by the side of the door.

I like these words, but I find them hard to fulfil in my daily life. There is so much wrong sometimes coming up, which hinders me to be kind and patient and to always trust and always hope and always preserver, I wonder what is this what stands between being at ease with ourselves and others. What is this “dis” in front of our own “ease”. It is the dissonance, the distrust, the whatever, I do not know and I am just pondering about this……

Love is patient,
Love is kind,
It does not envy,
It does not boast.

It is not proud,
It is not rude,
It is not self-seeking,
It is not easily angered,

It keeps no record or wrongs,
Love does not delight in evil,
But rejoices in truth.

It always protects,
Always trusts,
Always hopes,
Always perseveres.

Thank you all for your answer!
Still Michael your answer really is fantastique. If we let this dis away in front of the ease and if we only "concentrate" on the ease then yes we are at ease. This sounds so simple, but I personally feel really very well, if I concentrate on the "ease" or the good about my life, or about myself or the good about other people and not on the dis.

nks for all your answers.
But Michael I love your answer. It is true we can decide to focus on the "dis" o

I have no idea, how I made this look like it is now. But lets concentrate on the "ease" and not on what is not working!

it is the same "dis" that is before the "gust" of new life that blows through your heart that makes you realize that every day is a new day with new possibilities. it is only 3 simple letters put there to give you a reason to look at the bad side of things rather that to focus on the beauty of what may be waiting for you. erase the 3 letters and find your ease.

Solomon says there is nothing new under the sun, what is has already been, and what is will be again.

That was so beautiful, & so comprehensive! I love words, & had never thought about dis-ease. I mean, it meant to me, a physical condition, but when you use the dash--it's so different. I love questions that make me "think." I found: Dis:
A prefix denoting, in general, "separation, negative, or reversal." From nouns, "deprive of, expel from." Adjectives: cause to be the opposite of." Verbs: "fail, cease, refuse to..." & so on. My first thought is like in "disenchanted." To be enchanted is wonderful, but "dis" it, & it's negative! Personally, I don't think it's possible to always trust, or some of the things you mentioned, but making the effort, (or the journey), is to me most important. To "care" enough to want to have these values. There is nothing (except my kitty) that I love more than an exploring mind! There's a book, somewhere, from my college days--THE LONG SEARCH? I know I got lots out of it then, I wonder what I'd see in it today!

Yes. A beautiful verse. They always read that one at wedding ceremonies. How many people can actually live up to this? Based on this definition have any of us loved at all?

I think the dis is discontent. Many of us are not entirely happy with ourselves. If we don't love ourselves, it's hard to really love someone else. Envy, pride, rudeness, selfishness, anger all of these things are born out of self-loathing. When you love & accept yourself, you love and accept others and the world as a whole. Very few people achieve this.
