i have this win98 computer which is pretty old but runs great. I usually use it to test new freeware or whatever, but I'd like some other idea..do you have any..? it's greatly appreciated... (I was thinking maybe turning it into Linux, or replacing the hard drive or something but I really have no idea)

im not clear on what you mean
do you mean to upgrade it? then memory is probably about the only thing
if you mean software, there are tons of possibilities
just depends on what you want to do

Hi. I use an old Dell Optiplex running Win98 to track satellites and run amateur radio programs. Works great for these applications. (The satellite program is called " Orbitron " and is freeware.)

Hi earth_wind,

That's a good use for that old PC. The idea of trying some of the open source operating systems like Linux is a great idea.

You could even look at building your own network server or web server for your personal network. There are lots of applications out there to help you do that.

Hope it works out for you.
