All songs are by definition poetry... btw using anything from Green Day labels you emo kid, in case you care... I would suggest 'the Tide' by the Spill Canvas, 'American Pie' by Don Mclean, or any songs by Simon and Garfunkel or John Mayer.

Michael Jackson: Thriller (with Vincent Price)
Moody Blues: Nights in white satin
Moody Blues:The Question
Kansas: Lamplight Symphony
ELO: Liv'in Thing
Probably the best known song with poetry is Thriller featuring a reading by Vincent Price...
The Moody Blues are notable in that they incorporated poetic reading in some of their songs. However, many song lyrics are poetic when read vs sung (ELO & Kansas).

Yes, songs are poetry set to music; however, I will not do your homework for you. I'll give you a hint though: check out Eminem, Stevie Nicks, anything from the late 60s to 70s, and Billy Joel.
Now, get off the computer and do your homework.

:-) Sounds like a trick question to me. The poetry in music is the lyrics. Just choose a song, any song, write down the lyrics, and voila! poetry.

The Star Spangled Banner was origanally a poem, but turned into song, and later the National Anthem. It was made by Francis Scott Key.

"Let me Count the Ways" by Yoko Ono (based on a poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning)
"Grow Old with Me" by John Lennon (based on a poem by Robert Browning)
both used lines from classic poetry as inspiration for lyrics to their own contemporary love songs.

Okay, I'm sort of confused on what a consonance is, but I'm pretty sure its similar to alliteration. Isn't when a word sounds close to another word which "makes it rhyme"? If so, Green Day's song "Know Your Enemy" has it. Here's a verse: "Violence is a energy Against the enemy Well, violence is an enemy wah hey"
